Day 352

Day 352 December 18th

Sundays with my Son

These two cylons are guarding a secret entrance to a lab.  It is so secret you can’t even see it!  lol

Day 351

Day 351 December 17th

M.A.X. Tech Jet Squad

Although this is not my most current squad picture I still like these ones!  These jets are fun to play around with and I like DSTs creative thinking in figuring out how to make them so diverse by being able to configure the wing sets ups differently and join multiple jets together.  I look forward to adding the black and blue translucent ones to the squad soon.  There may also be some pics coming of these bad boys on the deck of a flying fortress too!

Day 350

Day 350 December 16th

There are zombies on my lawn!

Another photoygraphy contest came around, this time hosted by Diamond Select Toys on their facebook page.  We have had some really unseasonably nice days this fall and I had been itching to do some outdoor pictures anyways.  I love how these turned out but after seeing the Maximum Zombies plans I am even more excited to do them again with more zombies!

Day 349

Day 349 December 15th

Comic book cover recreation contest

By now it has to be pretty obvious that I love minimate phtoygraphy lol.  There are various places that will host toy photo contests from time to time and this one held on the Minimate Multiverse was one I had to enter!  Basically you had to recreate a comic book cover using minimates.  There were some absolutely amazing covers entered.  Thanks to having this amazing Starman custom I knew I had to find a cover to the Starman series to try my hand at recreating.  Add to that my photoshop works and it all came together nicely!  Once I had posted my finished version on Facebook it was pretty cool to see that Tony Harris, co-creator of Starman and the original cover artist liked what I had done!

Day 348

Day 348 December 14th

Minimates at Kids Summer Fun Camp

I had taken some minimates with me to work to pack for shipping on my lunch break and the kids went bonkers for them!  They swarmed me anytime I came to work with a package and I even brought some spares and sold them to them for a dollar a minimate.  There are some kids that I still see now that are still talking about minimates so I know they have become fans all on their own.  In these pictures was the day they built structures with toothpicks, marshmallows and gum drops and some of them instantly brought out their minimates!

Day 347

Day 347 December 13th

Brickarms

I had come across this great assortment of sci fi based Lego weapons on some website but they wanted an astronomically ridiculous amount for shipping on the set.  After lamenting this fact for a bit I had a brainwave to check brickarms and low and behold not only could I get weapons individually but I could get them shipped from within Canada too!  So this is just a small sample of the awesome stuff I got from them.  Brickforge is another great place to get Lego stuff that can be easily modified for minimate use!

Day 346

Day 346 December 12th

Green Goblin vs Spider-Man

Before the new Green Goblin and glider came out I had this idea to do a big fight scene with the goblin and Spidey.  Part of this inspiration stems from this itch/idea to have minimate style drawings/artwork done onto those blank white variant covers that Marvel releases for their big issues.  I have several including the Death of Spider-man issue of Ultimate Spider-Man which was the one I had just got when I set up this picture.  Now to just see if I can find artists to draw big minimate styled covers on this stack of comics sitting here lol!

Day 345

Day 345 December 11th

Sundays with my Son

I really like these gold guys from Battlestar Galactica.  They kinda make me think of Iron Man bad guys!

Day 344

Day 344 December 10th

TRU exclusive villager

This is a fantastic exclusive for the Universal Monsters line as it is akin to an army builder and I am sure I am not the only one eyeing up having a few of these…some quick head swaps and you have a mob of angry villagers with their torches and pitchforks ready to chase anything out of their town!  I particularly like the apron piece, nice details there.  It has been pointed out that this is actually a character in the Frankenstein movie whose little girl drown (I believe) after being frightened by the monster, making him not just a random civilian lol.  Nice inclusion of the shirt details under the apron, this will make it much nicer will assembling that mob!

Day 343

Day 343 December 9th

Bride of Frankenstein

I think one of the things I am going to do during my Christmas break is get my hands on these movies to watch them.  I can’t rightly recall if I have even seen Bride of Frankenstein before but thanks to modern technology I know that DST did an amazing job capturing her look here!  I especially love the big hair piece, perfect look and angle!

Day 342

Day 342 December 8th

Dracula

Hats of to DST for making one of my most favourite Universal Monsters characters and doing such an amazing job with him!  The look is pretty dead on and I love how the cape and chest piece flow together so well!  I also really like how they used a slightly muted colour for his skin, giving it that creepy Dracula look lol.

Day 341

Day 341 December 7th

Dr. Van Helsing

I have to brush up on my classic monster movies, not that I don’t know who the character is but because I haven’t watched these movies in quite some time!  I love the look DST has captured here, with the silver rimmed glasses and the old style suit jacket, vest and tie.  My only complaint is the lack of accessories; surely he would need some of his supplies!
