Day 402

Day 402 February 6^th

Vampire Jubilee

Another interesting plot twist in the Curse of the Mutants story was how they turned Jubilee into a vampire in order to lure Wolverine in.  Jubilee was a mainstay of my younger days and since then had become one of the depowered sideline characters so this was a way to jump her back into the spotlight.  DST did a great job making this minimate match the source material!

Day 400

Day 400 February 4^th

Blade

Despite the fact that he has a hole in his head this is one fantastic Minimate!  I thought this box set all around interesting and had some neat designs but when I took Blade out of the box I was floored!  This has quickly become one of my favourite Minimates; he just looks so bad ass and is very functional for play/pose fun.  I thought the first Blade Minimate was great but now it really pales in comparison.  DST did an amazing job with the designs and execution on this minimate and all his gear; from the body armour to the swords and scabbards and even his wicked little serum injector – all combine to make this one awesome Minimate!

Day 399

Day 399 February 3^rd

Vampire Wolverine

Nice twist to the story here, but I won’t spoil the logistics of it here for anyone who has not read the story but still wants to.  While some bemoan the popularity of Wolverine and his seemingly overuse and such I have always enjoyed him and part of why is for these over the top moments like this one.  Being able to have him become a vampire, even though temporary, is just a neat twist in the story and I like how it worked.  I have read many rants about how it was poorly written and would never work like that and on and on and on and while I respect everyone’s right to their own opinion, I just have to chuckle since I don’t let myself get tied down in the logistics of stuff that is meant to be fantastic and unrealistic – seems kind of the point of the medium!  The fanged snarl on this Minimate is so dead on to the character it is unbelievable!

Day 398

Day 398 February 2^nd

Dracula

So here is a more modern look to Marvel Comics Dracula, updated when they ran with a story idea of pitting the vampires of the MU against the mutants.  An interesting with some interesting results, I just read the core tpb a couple weeks back – about the same time I got this set actually and rather enjoyed it.  I dig the armoured look to Drac, makes sense to protect yourself against stuff like wooden stakes to the chest!  My only beef is that the sculpted hands that they chose make it a bit tough for him to hold the wicked sword he comes with!
